Hi there!  Welcome to Mehan's World.  Or should it be Mehans' World?  In any case, I've made our blog the homepage since it's the most frequently updated, but don't forget to zip over to the "Home Page" and our other pages--especially if you are new to these parts.  I've also archived some of our other blogs so check them out too.

Due to space limitations, I had to remove the guestbook feature but as always you can reach us at adammehan@cox.net or cmehan1@cox.net

Here's a recap of our fun adventures in June and July...

First, a couple video's of Tim's haircuit fun.  Previously mom would cut his hair in the bathtub or some other time when he was relaxing.  But this evening he saw Grandpa getting his haircut by mommy and he wanted to try too.  We put him up on the barstool and he was enthralled by the water bottle used to wet down his hair.  He kept squirting grandpa!  Here are two quick videos that I bet you can't watch without laughing with him...

You can click here for a couple dozen pictures of his adventures, but this one was just too cute to not post here...

CHRISTMAS
09!!!

CHRISTMAS This year was a little bit more fun than last year.  Although Tim obviously didn't appreciate everything that was going on around him, he did have a great time unwrapping the presents.  Can't wait for future years!

Here are a couple dozen photos from Christmas Eve with our families, Christmas Day with just us and then Christmas Weekend with my Dad's side of the family.

Also, here are a couple quick movie clips.  The first one shows him unwrapping a present on Christmas.

The second clip shows his crazy dancing skills.  (Obviously skills he got from his dad.)

Also, although it's included in the pictures above, I'd like to highlight this one as a favorite.  It's four generations of Mehans.

12/21:

This past weekend we had our first significant snow storm of the '09-'10 winter.  The next morning, I took Tim out to play after I was done snowblowing (as with lawnmowing in the summer, Chrissie says he's also too young to snowblow by himself.)  He struggled a bit walking through the snow because it was relatively high up on him, so I had to either carry him or shovel out a path for him, but eventually we made it out to his swingset and slide:

I offered to teach him to um, "write" his name in the snow, but I guess we are a couple years away from mastering that juvenile skill.

12/5

We attempted to visit Santa yesterday and, well, it didn't go too well.  We even came back later to try again but no luck.  We did get this one picture that wasn't too bad, but it was about the closest we got:

Tim was also a big help getting the Christmas Tree decorated.  We definitetly got a lot of practice because as soon as we got a decoration up, he would come along and pull it off.  I think we've re-decorated the tree 27 times in the past week.

You can check out a half-dozen other late November/early December pictures here.

Sorry for the lack of updates.

Wanted to post one of my favorite pictures, possible my all-time favorite, of Tim.

Hopefully at some point I'll get a chance to download some other recent pictures including Thanksgiving.  Maybe even before the Christmas photos come along.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Tim dressed up as an Alligator and roamed the local neighborhood.  Here are a couple pictures of him:

10/7:  "Little Sister" Kate got married on Saturday.  Up in beautiful Vermont.  Just past Smuggler's Notch.  Although the forecast called for rain, we stayed dry and as you can see in the pictures below, the sun actually came out for a few precious moments.  Everyone had a great time and we welcome Zach (and his family) into our family!  Good company, good times.

Here's a few pictures of the day...

Most of the energy has been focused on Kate's wedding, but here are a few fun shots of Tim.

Also, check out this cool video of him chasing Kobe and this one of him cuddling McGwire.

Shortly after Tim's birthday, we took him back for more formal portraits.  These are scans of the originals so the quality isn't the best, but he's still semi-cute I guess:

8/29:  Catching up:

A few things to catch everyone up on. So read on for the latest adventures with Pierogi's, big slides and camping II.

First, Timothy was treated to a second first birthday over at Great Grandma Rose's.  He hung out Grandpa Tom and his family and not only had his first ice cream cake, but way more importantly, he had his first Pierogi from Great Grandma Rose!

Here's a picture of Great Grandma Rose (along with Grandma Tom, Great Uncle Roger and Great Aunt Barb.)

We also made a stop at the 4H Fair in Somers.  Timothy met all kinds of cool animals including Ducks, Goats (one that scared him), sheep and even a cow that the owner let him pet.  He even got a ride on the Merry Go Round.

Then, the last thing mom and dad weren't too sure about but dad talked them into it.  Timothy went down the giant slide:

So what was the verdict?  Did he hate it or love it?

Well, I think this picture at the bottom tells the story...

Tim also went on his second camping trip!  This one with Aunt Beck, newly inducted Uncle Kevin and Cousins Nik, Mike and Julia.  It was a great time, but cut short due to the weather from the effects of the Hurricane.  Check out some pics here!

Here are a couple quick videos. One of me on the Merry Go Round and another one of me falling asleep while dad feeds me lunch.

Happy Birthday Timothy Joseph Mehan

We had a great birthday party on Saturday 08/08 with so many of his friends and family.  It was a perfect day with so many wonderful people.

I have some pictures of the actual birthday celebration, but I haven't quite had a chance to upload all of those yet.  But in the meantime, please check out this little montage of Timothy.

(FYI:  It is just over 9 minutes long.)

7/13:  Camping

Growing up, my family always went camping a few times each summer to Burlingame in Rhode Island.  Great times and great memories.  The mom's would bring the cousins there (with grandma leading the way) during the middle of the week.  We'd go to Misquamicutt Beach each day (I was never a huge beach person so I'd go explore the video games or batting cages).  We'd get back to the campground and rinse off in the pond that seemed like you could walk out forever and it would still only be hip deep.   Each afternoon, we'd hang around the campground where sometimes I'd get lucky and find a softball game I could join or I'd ride my bike around or the cousins would just make up our own games.  Then dinner by the fire and the rest of the evening hanging around the firepit.  Then on Friday's the dad's would come down after the workweek was done and it was even more fun.  If we were really lucky, they'd take us on the waterslides!

It's impossible to recapture it with words, it's just a bunch of memories from childhood that are absolutely priceless.  Falling asleep to the raindrops hitting the roof of the tent, waking up and seeing grandma already at the picnic table with her little AM radio...not matter how early we got up, she was already up and listening to the radio.  Taking trips to the camp store so the mom's could buy us an ice cream.  Uncle Bobby taking his whole camper to the beach early so he could cook his breakfast in his camper and then just walk out onto the beach.  (Him letting us ride in the camper back to the campground which was unbelievably cool because we could ride up in that part that extends over the cab of his pickup.)  Waiting for all the dad's to arrive on Friday evening.  Waking up the next morning with just a little bit of hot embers in the fire pit and trying to get them going again by using a paper plate and blowing on them.   Walking to the bathrooms at night when they always seemed much further away than in the daylight.  Playing cards at the picnic table by the Coleman latern with those incredible delicate wicks.  Being amazed and scared at the same time at the bugs that those lanterns could attract.

Chrissie also went camping with her family all of the time. (Just ask her dad to tell his Polish Canopy story!)  So we really wanted to start the tradition with Timothy (my mom always says the first time I went camping was when I was still in her womb.)

So we went for the first time last weekend with some great friends:  The Egans and the LaChapelle's.  Timothy did absolutely great and we all had a wonderful time and made all new camping memories this time with us as the parents.

Here's a group shot (courtesy of the LaChapelle's) as well as one of Timothy conquering the chair all by himself.  But be sure to check out this link for a few more pictures.

To see Timothy's latest adventure, check out this video.

I like how he built up the tension a little bit, hesistating, and then went for a leisurely stroll.  Here are a few more videos, don't worry they are all less than 30 seconds long and for the most part you don't have to see me in them:

Long walk with his bat.

Walking to get mom.

Walking towards Dad

Walk, stop and Turn (show-off!)

Short walk, fall, crawl

Short walk, long stand

As proud as we are of him, we also realize dad (and mom) were walking at 9 months so hopefully like dad he hasn't reached his peak already!
